Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger (王様戦隊キングオージャー, Ōsama Sentai Kinguōjā, Kingship Squadron King-Ohger) is a Japanese tokusatsu television drama, the 47th installment in Toei Company's long-running Super Sentai series. This series is the first in the franchise where all of the main characters have an insectoid motif.

Plot

Two millennia ago on the planet Chikyu, five heroes utilize the power of Legend King-Ohger, a combination of the thirteen Shugods, to defeat and exile the Underground Empire Bugnarak to the planet’s subterranean levels. After the battle, the heroes went their separate ways and founded five kingdoms: Shugoddam, Nkosopa, Ishabana, Gokkan, and Toufu.

In the present, the current rulers uncover a prophecy that Bugnarak will return and attempt to conquer Chikyu again. But attempts of forming a new alliance to face this threat are halted when king Racles Husty of Shugoddam plots to use the Bugnarak’s assault to justify conquering the other four kingdoms at the expense of his subjects. In retaliation, a Shugoddam youth named Gira steals Racules' Ohger Calibur, a symbol of his authority, and declares himself an "evil king" who will destroy Racules' reign. Branded a traitor despite being revealed to be Racules' missing younger brother, Gira begins to form an alliance with other rulers: President Yanma Gast of Nkosopa, Queen Hymeno Ran of Ishabana, Chief Justice Rita Kaniska of Gokkan, and Lord Kaguragi Dybowski of Toufu to save their world from Bugnarak and depose Racules. They are joined in their quest by Jeremy Brasieri, a mysterious historian and self-proclaimed ruler of Chikyu who knows the extent of Racules’ ambitions.

Production

The Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger trademark was registered by Toei on September 21, 2022, and published on September 30, 2022.

King-Ohger was officially announced on December 21, 2022. An online production announcement conference introducing the main cast and characters and the artist for the show's theme song was held on February 14, 2023.[1]

A film that has been tentatively titled Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger the Movie (映画 王様戦隊キングオージャー, Eiga Ōsama Sentai Kinguōjā) is an upcoming film scheduled for release in Japanese theaters on July 28, 2023, double-billed with the film for Kamen Rider Geats.[2]
