Sandy Valley, Nevada
Sandy Valley is a bedroom community of Las Vegas located in west–central Clark County, Nevada, United States.[2] It is approximately 35 miles (56 km) from the southern part of Las Vegas and west Henderson, Nevada and 20 miles from the Jean exit at Interstate 15. Sandy Valley is also located 14 miles from the historic town of Goodsprings, Nevada.

Sandy Valley is a popular tourist destination offering many unique adventures in the Mojave Desert of Southern Nevada, including the Sandy Valley Ranch,[3] Sandy Valley Motocross,[4] Gunship Helicopter Adventures,[5] Adrenaline Mountain,[6] and the new upcoming Ford Bronco Raptor Off-Roadeo Adventures (Summer 2023).[7]
Sandy Valley is home to Sky Ranch Estates, a custom residential aviation community with private hangars and direct access to the privately owned, public use aviation Airport (FAA LID: 3L2)
Geography
Sandy Valley is located in the Mesquite Valley of the Mojave desert and bordered by the southern extension of the Spring Mountains and Mount Potosi to the East, and by the Kingston Mountain range to the west. 35°49′44″N 115°39′7″W (35.828999, -115.651943).[8]
Sandy Valley has a total area of 56.0 square miles (145 km2).[9]

As of the census[11] of 2010, there were 2,051 people and 1,024 households in the census-designated place (CDP) of Sandy Valley. The population density was 32.2 inhabitants per square mile (12.4/km2). There were 811 housing units at an average density of 14.5 per square mile (5.6/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.57% White, 1.39% African American, 0.61% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.72% from other races, and 1.94% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.49% of the population.
There were 714 households, out of which 26.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 25.1% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 33.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 101.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.4 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $43,663, and the median income for a family was $46,389. Males had a median income of $37,000 versus $26,074 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $17,439. About 9.0% of families and 14.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 22.7% of those under age 18 and 8.7% of those age 65 or over.
In 2007, Clark County estimated the population at 2,099 [12] up from 1,974[13] in 2006.
Education
Sandy Valley's public school falls under the jurisdiction of the Clark County School District. The Sandy Valley School serves grades Pre-K to 12. The school offers AP Calculus and AP US Government as well as dual enrollment college credit for Linear Algebra 125, Pre-Calculus 126, English 101 and English 102.[14]

Sandy Valley's school mascot is the Sidewinder.[15]
The school is currently undergoing a large expansion with the addition of a new High School building, a new multipurpose sports field that accommodates football, baseball and soccer as well as a new parking lot for guests and staff. The new campus is due to open in Fall 2023.[16][17]
Library
The Sandy Valley Library is operated by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and has access to the entire 3.6 million circulation collection of the LVCCLD libraries. Any book or material or media requested will be delivered to the local library within a few days.[18][19]
Parks and Recreation
Sandy Valley has a community center that features a sports field, basketball court, baseball field, kid's splash pad, barbecue area, playground, and barrel racing arena. The Community Center hosts many social gatherings throughout the year such as move nights, Easter egg hunts, Fourth of July barbecues, and a Christmas light parade and caroling.[20]
The Sandy Valley Senior Center offers social activities and events such as pancake breakfasts, watercolor painting classes, quilting classes, card games and puzzles.[21]

Sandy Valley offers many services and amenities, including a gas station with a general store, Family Dollar-Dollar Tree, USPS post office, café,[22] Idle Spurs Tavern[23] and restaurants.

The Idle Spurs Tavern in Sandy Valley was featured in the 1995 film Casino where Sam "Ace" and Nicky had a meeting outside Las Vegas.[25]
Country singer Kelsea Ballerini's music video Peter Pan (2015) was filmed in Sandy Valley.[26]
The Killers music group filmed their music video Dirt Sledding (2015) at the Sandy Valley Ranch.[27]
The 2022 film Liger featuring Mike Tyson had scenes filmed at the Sandy Valley Ranch.[28]
The acrobatic circus show "Ignite" performed under the stars at the Sandy Valley Ranch (2021).[29]
The 1990 film Solar Crisis was filmed at the Sandy Valley Ranch.[30]
