The first part revolves around how Abhinaya, a traditional girl, who upholds her traditions and customs, crosses paths with Vetri, a rogue who is ignorant about the importance of traditions and marriage. When Vetri ties the thali with Abhi in the heat of an argument at the temple, will the two overcome their differences and find love along the way?

The second part is taken 6 years after Vetri accepts his murder charge and is released. When he gets out and tries to find Abhi, he finds out she has aborted their child and moved far away. 2 years later, Abhi is now a high-ranking collector, whilst Vetri is a notorious rowdy in Kanchipuram as a result of what he found out about his child. However, Abhi didn't abort the child (Sudar) and is adamant on ensuring Vetri doesn't see her. How Sudar reunites her parents forms the premise for the second part of the story.

Plot

Part 1 (Episodes 1-454)

The story starts with an educated woman Abhinaya, who maintains her traditions. She meets Vetri, a village goon who isn't aware of the importance of marriage procedures, when she helps a couple get married in the temple. A samiyar encounters her and appears one day and predicts that Abhinaya will wed an rogue, whether they had previously given it any credence. Abhi was attempting to help a couple who had secretly wed. Before leaving, Vetri pulls a thaali and fastens it around Abhi's neck after Abhi slaps Vetri in the heat of their argument. He later regrets it, though. To the dismay of her father and Vetri, Abhinaya was forcibly ushered into the slum as a newlywed bride despite her initial astonishment and anguish. Vetri dismisses Abhi's attempts to help him comprehend the meaning of love. But Abhinaya discovers the truth about Vetri and the reasons behind his abrupt change, as well as the fact that Radha, a lifelong acquaintance, is secretly in love with him. However, destiny causes several things to happen in the lives of Vetri and Abhinaya that finally lead to the two of them becoming close. Additionally, Vetri mentions that he likes Abhinaya in the scene where she was taken away. Finally, Vetri and Abhinaya are forbidden from entering the house. However, Vetri's other family members agreed to let them live with them on the terrace next to their house. Will Vetri and Abhinaya be acknowledged as a couple and live together?[4] Whether the two can settle their differences and unite forms the remainder of the story.

Part 2 (Episode 455 onwards)

After being separated for years, Abhi and Vetri cross paths again. When destiny offers a second chance to the couple, will history repeat itself?[5]

6 years later

In Andhra Pradesh, Abhi is now a collector, whereas Vetri was recently let out of prison after serving his time. When he is released from prison, he wants to visit Abhi and his daughter but learns that Abhi has moved away and that his daughter was aborted. As a result, Vetri adopts new negative habits and returns to his previous brash behaviour.

2 years later

After fighting with a powerful bigwig in Andhra Pradesh, Abhi is given a government transfer back to Kanchipuram, where it is found that Abhi didn't abort her child, Sudar, who is still alive. Vetri then becomes a major rowdy in his hometown of Kanchipuram. When a riot occurs at a temple and Vetri is called upon to open it against Abhi's order, the two cross paths after 8 years as Abhi hears about the riot and tries to settle it. Abhi ends up getting Vetri arrested and he ends up getting out on bail with the help of Kanmani ( a girl who he educated to become a lawyer, and one-sidedly loves Vetri). After the case is closed, Vetri challenges Abhi to defeat him whilst Nandhini wants to tell the truth that she killed Bhavani to Abhi but Vetri intervenes and tells her to leave.

Paramu plots to have Vetri killed as revenge for killing his twin brother, Bhavani. When his goons try to finish him off, Sudar warns Vetri and he fends off the rowdies. However, Sudar is injured as a result but this makes Vetri appreciate her highly. They spend a lot of time with each other and form a strong bond, whilst not knowing that Vetri is her father and Sudar is Vetri's daughter. Sudar also makes Vetri give up his bad habits, smoking and drinking, and he becomes a slightly changed man.

How Sudar reunites Vetri and Abhi forms the main plot of the second part of the story.

Controversy

In the preview of this series, Vetri, the protagonist, argues that the love marriage against his parents is invalid. Then the heroine Abhinaya comes to stop him. In anger he takes the thali from Amman's neck and puts it on Abhi's neck. Just tying a yellow rope is enough. "Now I will be your husband," he says angrily. Not only many feminists have seen this scene, but there has been widespread criticism from all sides in this serial.[6][7][8][9][10]

Crossovers

There was a crossover with Namma Veettu Ponnu from 15 November 2021 to 27 November 2021.[11]
