TransPennine Trains is a future train operator in the United Kingdom that will commence operating the TransPennine franchise on 28 May 2023. It will run regional and inter-city rail services between the major cities and towns of Northern England and Scotland.

History
On 11 May 2023, the Department for Transport (DfT) announced that it would not be renewing FirstGroup's Transpennine Express concession when it expired on 28 May with operator of last resort DfT OLR Holdings to take over the following day.[1][2]
