Yuto Nagatomo

Yuto Nagatomo (長友 佑都, Nagatomo Yuto, born September 12, 1986) is a Japanese football player. He plays for the Japan national team.

Biography

Nagatomo was born in Saijo on September 12, 1986. When he played for Meiji University, he also played for FC Tokyo in 2007. After graduating from the university, he joined FC Tokyo in 2008. He became a regular left side back from first season. The club won the champions in the 2009 J.League Cup. In summer 2010, he moved to Italian Serie A club Cesena. In January 2011, he moved to Internazionale Milano. He played 170 matches for the club in 7 seasons. In February 2018, he moved to Turkish Süper Lig club Galatasaray. The club won the champions in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 season. In summer 2020, he moved to French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille.

On May 24, 2008, Nagatomo debuted for the Japan national team against Ivory Coast. He became a regular player as left side back soon. In August 2008, he also played for Japan U-23 national team at 2008 Summer Olympics. In 2010, he was selected the Japan for 2010 World Cup. He played full-time in all 4 matches and Japan qualified to the knockout stage. In 2011, he participated 2011 Asian Cup. He played full-time in all 6 matches and Japan won the champions. He also played at 2013 Confederations Cup, 2014 World Cup and 2015 Asian Cup. In 2018, he was selected the Japan for 2018 World Cup. He played full-time in all 4 matches and Japan qualified to the knockout stage. In 2019, he played at 2019 Asian Cup and Japan won the 2nd place.
