How to Recover a Spotify Account on PC or Mac

This wikiHow teaches you how to reset your Spotify account, and set a new account password, using a desktop computer. You can use Spotify's desktop app or the web player in your internet browser.

Using the Desktop App

Open Spotify on your computer. The Spotify icon looks like a green circle with three black sound waves in it. You can find it on your Start menu on Windows or in your Applications folder on Mac.

Click the RESET PASSWORD button at the bottom of the login page. When you're logged out and on the login page, you'll see this option at the bottom. It will redirect you to the Password Reset page in your internet browser.

Enter your email address or username on the Password Reset page. Click the text field, and type the email associated with your Spotify account or your username here.

Click the green SEND button. This will send you an email with a link to reset your account password.

Open the email from Spotify in your mailbox. Go to your mailbox in your browser or in your mail app, and open Spotify's email titled "Reset your password."

Click the Reset password button in the email. It will redirect you to the Reset password page in a new tab.
- You can also see your username in the email here.

Enter a new account password in the "New password" field. This will be the new account password you can use to log in with your email or username.
- Make sure to enter the same exact password in the "Repeat new password" field to verify.

Complete the captcha task. If you see a captcha task on the password reset form, click the "I'm not a robot" box, and complete any given tasks.

Click the green SEND button. This will set your new password, and update your account. You can now log in to your account with your new password.

Using the Web Player

Open the Spotify website in your internet browser. You can open the web player at https://www.spotify.com.
- Type the web player's address into the address bar, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.
- Not all web browsers support the Spotify Web Player. If you're having trouble getting it to work, try opening Spotify in Chrome.

Click the Log In button on the top-right. This button is next to Sign up on a navigation bar in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will open the login page.

Click Forgot your password below the Password field. This is a green link below the LOG IN button on the login page. It will redirect you to the Password Reset page.

Enter your email address or username. Type your username or the email address associated with your Spotify account into the Password Reset form.

Click SEND. This is a green button at the bottom of the reset form. It will send you an email with a password reset link.

Open Spotify's email in your mailbox. Go to your mailbox, and open the email from Spotify titled "Reset your password."

Click Reset password in the email. This is a green link in Spotify's automated password reset email. It will open the Reset password form on a new page.
- You can also find your username in the email.

Enter a new password in the "New password" field. This will be the new password you can use to log in to your account.
- Make sure to enter the same exact password in the "Repeat new password" field to verify.

Complete the captcha task at the bottom. If you see a captcha task on the reset form, click the checkbox next to "I'm not a robot," and complete the captcha task.

Click the SEND button. It's a green button at the bottom. This will update your account with your new password. You can now use your new password to log in.
