This wikiHow teaches you to switch Facebook Messenger accounts. Doing this allows you to send and receive messages from a different account.

Adding an Account

1Open Messenger. It’s a white app with a blue speech bubble.
- If you’re not logged in, you’ll be prompted to do so.

2Tap the Profile button. It’s a blue circle with the outline of a person in the top left corner. This will open your profile page.Advertisement

3Tap Switch Account. It’s toward the bottom of the page.
- If you don’t see the option to switch accounts, update your Messenger app.

4Tap +. It’s at the top right corner of the page. The Add an account window will pop up.

5Enter the information for the account you want to add. You’ll need the email or phone number and password associated with the account.

6Tap OK. It’s at the bottom right of the Add an account window. The Require Password window will pop up.

7Tap Require to require a password. You’ll need to enter your password each time you switch to this account.
- If you don’t want to enter your password each time, tap Don’t Require.

8Tap Continue as [name]. Another window will open.

9Enter your phone number. The Text Anyone in Your Phone window will pop up.
- If you don't want to enter your phone number, you can tap Not Now →Skip.

10Tap Ok to allow Messenger to continuously upload your contacts. This will take you to the Invite your friends to Messenger window.
- You can tap Learn More →Not now if you don’t want Messenger to upload your contacts.

11Tap Invite next to any friends you want to invite to Messenger.
- You can tap Skip at the top right corner to skip this step, or tap Invite More Later at the top of the page to perform this step at a later time.

12Tap Done. It’s at the top right corner of the screen. You’re now logged in with the account you’ve added.

Switching to an Account You’ve Added

4Tap the name of the account. A window will pop up.

5Tap OK in the pop-up window to continue with the account you’ve chosen. You’re now logged in with the other account.
- If this is the first time you’ve switched to this account, Messenger will ask whether you want to require a password in order to switch. Tap Don’t Require or Require to continue.
