Habib Bank Limited (Urdu: حبیب بینک) abbreviated as HBL, is a Pakistani multinational bank based in Habib Bank Plaza, Karachi, Pakistan.

Established in 1941 by the Habib Family, HBL is Pakistan's oldest, largest and the first commercial bank. In 1951 it opened its first international branch in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In 1972 the bank moved its headquarters to the Habib Bank Plaza, which became the tallest building in South Asia at the time. The Government nationalised the bank in 1974 and privatised it in 2004, at that time the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development acquired a controlling share and the management control. • 8 October 2005: The Kashmir earthquake (also known as the South Asia earthquake or the Great Pakistan earthquake) of 2005, was a major earthquake, of which the epicentre was the Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The earthquake occurred at 08:50:38 Pakistan Standard Time (03:50:38 UTC) on 8 October 2005. It registered 7.6 on the richter scale making it a major earthquake similar in intensity to the 1935 Quetta earthquake, the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, and the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The Pakistani government's official death toll was 73,276, while officials say nearly 1,400 people died in Jammu and Kashmir and fourteen people in Afghanistan. Most of the affected people lived in mountainous regions with access impeded by landslides that blocked the roads, leaving an estimated 3.3 million homeless in Pakistan.

Shoaib Mansoor (Full name, Shoaib Mansoor), (Urdu: شعیب منصور; born 4 February 1951 Karachi) is a Pakistani television and film director, writer, producer, lyricist and musician of Muhajir origin.

Active in the television industry since 1976, when he produced one of PTV's first programmes to be aired in colours, the music show Jharnay, he first found success for composing and writing the song Dil Dil Pakistan in 1987, thereby introducing Vital Signs musical band in mainstream Pakistani television. He was also well-recognised for directing many critically acclaimed hit drama series on Pakistani television. (Full article...)

4 May 2023 – Insurgency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Seven teachers are killed in a mass shooting at a high school in Parachinar, Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Another teacher from the same school was killed on the road in a separate attack earlier in the day. (Xinhua)

Six soldiers and three Pakistani Taliban members are killed during a gunfight in Dir Duni, North Waziristan District. (Dawn)
